Greetings from the Book Pile

It is often said that when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. Life, however, has not given us lemons (which is quite a shame cause I love lemonade). Instead it has given us Covid-19, so I’m making a blog out of it. Or, more accurately, I’m making a blog out of all the books, webcomics, and maybe even video games Covid-19 has given me time to catch up on.

So who am I? My name is Samuel Lindal Mahoney-Volk. Sam, however, is what I tend to go by. I am an avid reader, dreamer, and recent graduate of Dalhousie University’s Master of Library and Information Studies. I love stories, cats, and sushi not necessarily in that exact order. I’m a prairie boy, born, raised, and once more living in Winnipeg (sorry Halifax, way too many hills). I grew up on a diet of fantasy starting all the way back when I was a mere toddler with bedtime readings of the Hobbit. I’m the son of two teachers and arguably two cats.

My reading tendencies lie pretty heavy towards fantasy and science fiction, and I’m as much a fan of comics as I am novels. I dream of being a writer one day, but for the moment I’m content to work my way up to being a librarian first. I’m not looking to review the big new thing on this blog, but instead pull my favorites off the shelf and give them a callout and maybe chuck some real stinkers into the mix for a quick laugh.

Anyways, I’m here to have fun and I hope you all can to.
